Are you hoping for a real Halloween in your Munich neighborhood this year?

Hoping for a festive Halloween in your area, complete with trick or treaters? Become a ‘Neighborhood Captain’. You’ll get access to the map and easy-to-follow instructions. Spread the word in your area and add pins as submissions from neighbors welcoming trick or treaters in your corner of Munich come in.

The set up is pretty low tech. Anyone who wants to participate can add their street and hausnr. address (but not names!) to the form on the website. Addresses are automatically added to a spreadsheet. The pins must then be manually added by Neighborhood Captains to a Google Map for their individual PLZ. Here’s how to get your ‘hood on the map.

  1. Fill out this form. Make sure to include your PLZ (Only within the Mittlerer Ring please!).

2. Watch your inbox for access to the spreadsheet and Map. After I get your submission, I’ll send you video instructions and give you access to the spreadsheet and the map.

3. Check the spreadsheet regularly. See if any new pins have been submitted to your PLZ. I’m not sure yet if I can set up alerts, but if I can I will. The closer to Halloween the crazier it gets, so this might not be a great idea. Stay tuned.

4. Add pins to the Trick or Treat map. As soon as you see a pin for your PLZ add it to the map (again, I’ll provide a video tutorial explaining how to do this).

If you really want a lot trick or treating in your Munich neighborhood share this website with people you know, in your WhatsApp groups, Nebenan etc.

Download this neighborhood Halloween flyer below. Use it with or without the trick or treat labels.

Another great way to get the word out is to hang up flyers around your neighborhood; at the supermarket, in sheltered bus stops, in front of schools (before Herbstferien!) and at playgrounds.

I’ve created an A4 size flyer (in German) you can download and print below:
